Default Advice on a 1991 XJ

hey guys, winter is right around the corner here in NJ and im gonna need a 4x4 that can get me around when the snow hits... ive heard nothing but great things about the XJ from all the years they have been produced and thats why i decided to go with one... im currently looking at 1991 with 225k on the clock, 5 speed with working 4x4 and from what i can tell a strong running 4.0 HO engine... its all stock and it apparently lived its whole life on the highway as a commuter... when i checked it out the body was in really good condition considering the age and miles with only 1 small spot of rust on the driver side rocker panel... the floors from underneath seemed to be good and passed my finger push and knocking test lol, except for one spot in the rear... i noticed some oil build up on the valve cover and some black oil/dried smoke/soot on the under side of the hood but no leaks or smoke of any kind... finally i also noticed some build up of similar junk on both front and rear pumikns on the axles but again no leaks or drips... just wondering what you guys would pay for something like this and would it make a good winter driver/woods rig... loving this forum so far and cant wait to get into a XJ and get bit by the mod bug lol

Welcome to CF. XJ prices run the gamut. Hard to say without pics, but it may go for anywhere between $500 and $2,000 depending on the seller. Some think they're sitting on a gold mine.
