Yep, I let 25 years slip by between JEEPS but I am an owner once again.
I am in New England. Ct to be exact.
Last week I picked up a 2009 Grand Cherokee Rock Mtn edition..in Black..
Although, over the last 10 years, my two Brothers in Law, my Nephew and Niece have kept the Jeep flame alive by owning 6 or so Jeeps amongst them. So, there has always been a Jeep or two in the Family.

I have in the past owned a 71 Wagoneer, a New 79 Cherokee and a New 81 Cherokee.
What a great Unit this 09 Rocky Mtn is though. Looking forward to hundreds of thousands of miles.
Regarding the Chrysler Bankruptcy and Jeep's future I believe it is solid. Jeep is the profitable segment of Chrysler Corp and Jeep has gone through ******, Kaiser, AMC, Renault(investment) and Chrysler. Some corp will want Jeep if not Chrysler. I noted as I was looking to buy even the Jaded Consumer Reports had to give the Grand Cherokee's Mechanical workings execellent scores.
Good Stuff is on the horizon for JEEP!

It's a Dodge Omni GLH, from the mid-1980s. Think "turbocharged rental car" and you wouldn't be far off. (I'm only answering because I happen to think it's awesome; I don't know the full details.)

The similarity to the VW Golf/Rabbit was, I believe, intentional on Chrysler's part at the time.
