2001 Sienna Pearl in PA
Hi everyone, I'm Jason. I just picked up a 2001 Sienna Pearlcoat XJ Sport for daily driver duties. I have a lifted and locked TJ on 35s, so I have no great desire to get extreme with this XJ, but time will tell where I end up.
The XJ had 93K miles on the rust free chassis and around 500 miles on the freshly rebuilt engine. Previous owner had bought it with the dreaded 3-4 cyl cracked head and dropped in a rebuilt motor he had been working on. It's now got a 97 block with a good 00 head. It has a "tick" to it in the valve train but runs strong. Down the road, I will have it looked at. For now, it's fine.
There are a few things it needs taken care of to be a better daily driver though, so I've go a "to do" list.
First off, the suspension is saggy and soft. You can hear the shocks blow and suck air when going over parking lot speed bumps. Also, the rear leafs measure out to 15.75" from wheel center to the bottom of the flare. That's about 1.25" of droop. I ordered some heavy duty replacement spring packs which are said to give 1.5" over stock height. I've had some 2" coil spacers from the TJ's budget boost, and am going to pick up teraflex 1.75 shackles and JK shocks. Over all, I should net a 2" front lift and around 2.25-2.5 in the rear. I figure I can remove the shackles and redrill the leaf mount to lower it a bit to level it out to avoid the hotrod stance if I have to. Then I can toss on the 30x9.5 BFG AT KOs I've had in my garage since my TJ was on 2" BB.
From there, I have to install the receiver hitch my buddy donated and start looking into some sort of front recovery points and winch mount.
Down the road, I'm considering a winch bumper and winch, a roof rack, swing out tire carrier bumper, rear locker/LSD, a decent stereo system.
Ok, enough babble. Here's a pic of the day I bought it a few weeks ago.

Thanks.
I did the whole black rim thing on my TJ for about 3 years. I think they kinda look played out. I was never a fan of the 'ecco' wheels until now. I'm really going to try to keep them for a while. This could change at a moment's notice though. LOL

With one Jeep laid up (the TJ) in the garage with a broken LCA mount up front and busted body mounts that need drilled out, I can't afford to have my DD down. So, I made an appointment at a local shop to have my HD leafs installed next week. In the mean time, I may give it a shot, but if I get in a pinch I'll have them wrap it up. Stuck bolts are my achilles heel.
I did the kick down cable reset, now my trans shifts a bit harder than I like, but it's a better throttle response. So there's some give and take. Perhaps later I will adjust it back the other way but I'll give it some time and see if it settles down.
I also started my stereo install. I added the sub box and amp but didn't wire them up. Family needs cut it short. Maybe Wednesday morning I can wrap it up.
Does anyone have pics of the best spot to run your amp power wire through the firewall?
