How to Replace the Light Bulbs in a Jeep Liberty

Things You'll Need

  • Bulb number 9007 (headlights)
  • Bulb number 3157 (tail lights)
  • Bulb number 9006 (light bar)

  • Instructions

    Replacing Headlights
  • 1 Turn your headlights off and pop the hood.
  • 2 Reach behind the headlight assembly to access the protective cover. Twist the cover to remove it. Access the headlight modules.
  • 3 Turn the headlight module counterclockwise to disconnect it from the assembly. Pull off the old bulb and insert the new one.
  • 4 Insert the bulb module into the rear of the headlight assembly. Turn it clockwise to lock it. Screw on the protective cover.
Replacing Tail lights

  • 5 Open the rear liftgate to access the tail light assembly.
  • 6 Remove the two torx screws from the side of the assembly.
  • 7 Carefully pull the assembly from the vehicle. Do not to let it scratch your paint.
  • 8 Twist the bulb module counterclockwise and pull it out. Remove the old bulb and install the new one. Insert the module and turn it clockwise to lock it.
  • 9 Mount the assembly back into the vehicle and replace the two torx screws to secure it.
10 Remove the four screws from the light bar cover. You may need to stand on a small ladder or chair to access it.

Roof Light Bar

  • 11 Pull off the rear of the light bar cover when the screws are removed.
  • 12 Unhook the wiring harness from each bulb module you want to replace. Turn the module counterclockwise to remove it.
  • 13 Remove the old bulb and install the new one. Turn the module clockwise to secure it.
  • 14 Mount the light bar cover back on and replace the screws to finish.
Tips & Warnings

  • Only use the factory recommended bulbs for each application.
