242 T-case for sale out of a 98 XJ & will fit all XJs. It has 123,000 on it & was recently serviced before i took it out. Only reason was cause my beefed up 231 with a SYE went in. Is in GREAT SHAPE!!

Would this be a straight swap for a 231? Will the existing DS work? I have a 99 two door (bone stock). Do you have the shifter bezel? I am in Guilderland 12084.

I'm in the middle of this process. The 242 will bolt right in place of the 231. I'm swapping out my 242 for a 231, and you will need the entire shifter assembly, or at the very least, the shift gate under the console. Here's a pic showing the difference. NP231 on the left, 242 on the right.

Yes its a straight bolt in & no u don't need any of the shifter assembly or linkage!

I know this cause I swapped out the 242 for my 231 & that was all I needed. I've also done this twice, once on my 95XJ & now on my 98XJ, where both had a 242 in it which I swapped out for the 231 which means that both models had both the 231 & 242 in it & worked!

The ONLY thing that's now different is that u have to ignore the part time/full time lights next to the shifter as the 231 has just hi & low so u just need to know that one shift down is 4-Hi, then neutral, then 4-Low, & then the opposite if u have the 242.

If by chance i'm wrong, u can just take that plate & trim it up, or just grab one out of a yard.

I'm also in Guilderland off of Carman Rd/Rte 146 but the t-case is at my moms in Earlton.

So the shift gate for the 242 didn't pose any noticeable problems or differences with the 231 installed? Interesting. Too bad I've already ripped mine out I also got a 231 console piece without the full-time option, though.

Well if ur not in Brooklyn & not in the US, my advice would be to find one in ur country!! I don't think u realize what ur asking as a t-case weighs alot & to ship that overseas via FedEx would probably cost u twice what the t-case is worth.

Even shipping it to Brooklyn will cost u well over a c note. If u have someone willing to take the 3 hr drive up to me then ud be good to go! Hell id even meet whoever half way for added gas money!!

For internarional shipping i use consolidation sea freight. It is not so pricey as you think.

I don't have an exact weight or dimentions for a box to get an accurate quote from Fedex since the t-case is at my moms 45 min away from me, so at a best case scenario, ur lookin round a hundred bucks give or take.
