I have my 1989 XJ PROJECT up for sale. Why is it a project? Aren't they all? Well, mine was my DD until last year, then I bought a new car to run around in, so I had more time to fix the stuff that needed to be fixed the right way (and not rushed).
I bought a parts XJ and swapped in the engine (113,xxx), no it is not rebuilt, just swapped over. It leaks oil....yeah, I know, but I had to say it anyway. There are a few things that need to be fixed, like the rear brakes, and the rear main seal and all. (If you are interested I can rattle them all off to you, but this is just a quick ad to see if anyone needs another project.
The good.....it's SOLID! Super low rust on an 89 body. Young engine, decent interior, all the parts plus extras come with the asking price. Newer ac unit (not charged though). New headlight harness upgrade with relays. This XJ actually has all of the rubber bumperettes and end caps (though not shown)
If you show up to check out my XJ in your XJ I'll drop that price!
You'll need new tires, but the rims are ok, the one on the bottom is brand new What it looks like now As she sits
Not very helpful with the sale, but I am curious how you got the silver around the vents looking so good.
I took it to a chrome shop and they had to mask it off, and since it's plastic it cost me a fortune........ NAH JUST KIDDING!
I used a paint pen from the craft store. Super easy, super fast! The pic doesn't even do it justice, it turned out even better than I thought it would! (All the "chrome" on the dash was just paint anyway.)
If it doesn't sell by the the spring I'll make some room in the garage and start fixing all the small things it needs to be perfect.....and either the price will go up, or I'll keep it.
