Default zj to xj rear&front end swap

Will axle housing(assemblies) from '02 Grand Cherokee ZJ fit my '01 Cherokee XJ. If not, why. If you can offer ANY info on this, thank you in advance.

Anything is possible.
For one that's a WJ not a ZJ.
The WJ use a different track bar than the zj or xj.
Actual swap the four link on the front might work.
I would try to use the WJ track bar.
Now the rear is entirely different. Coils vs leafs.
Would have to cut all the stock mounts off the axle and weld on spring perches for leafs.
I have both and pondered the same thing but not put a tape to it measure yet.
Hope that helps some.

The front is a Dana 30 just like what you have now it could be made to fit easier than the rear. The rear axle is either a Dana 35 or a Dana 44A both of them aren't worth the time and effort to swap into the rear. Why do you want to do this?

The Dana 30 front axle in a ZJ (up to 98 Grand Cherokee) is a low pinion 30, exactly the same as a 2000-2001 XJ, and the control arm mounting positions is exactly the same - easy swap if you need to replace your axle, BUT the high pinion XJ axle in the pre 2000 XJ is a better axle . The gear ratios vary, but most V8 ZJ axles are 3:73, when our XJ Automatic axles are 3:55. The 2002 Grand Cherokee WJ front axle is totally different than the XJ or ZJ front axles, mounting points are different, the bolt patter is different 5on5 vs 5 on 4.5 for a XJ or ZJ. WJ axles are 5" wider than a XJ or ZJ. The rear axles are a D44A or a D35. The D35 is weak, the D44A can be strong with a good gusset, but has limited aftermarket support for lockers etc. If you are looking to upgrade your axles, the easiest swap for a rear axle of a XJ is a Ford 8.8 out of a Explorer. I picked one up for mine for only $200.00 from a JY. They are leaf spring axles, so unlike the WJ, which is a four link coil spring rear. You just have to grind off the old leaf mounts, and weld on some new ones. (of course you need to do some work to connect the brake lines, E-brake cables and then a yoke adapter flange) So could you make the axles off a WJ work? sure, with a bunch of work, cut off all the brackets on the rear axles, and make some leaf spring perches. The front you would have to cut all the control arm mounting brackets off, weld some new ones on, and you could use it. The easiest axle upgrade for a XJ is gusset a high pinion 30 from a XJ, maybe add C gussets as well, and then a Ford 8.8 in the rear. - My $.02

A Chrysler 8.25 out of an XJ would bolt right in and is strong enough to handle 35s.

a 02 grand is a wj not a zj and no the axles will not bolt in with out welding and cutting,Plus they are a different bolt pattern. For 35 inch tires your stock dana 30 front is fine if you build it up.The rear if you have a chrysler 8.25 your good if not swap one from any xj it will bolt in.
