Hey, just curious; my dad has a set of 2" spacers from his 98 ZJ laying around in the garage, I don't have much cash so I was thinking of maybe using these spacers for my XJ, rather than having to go out and buy more.
I already need to save the cash for add-a-leafs.
Is it fine to use these spacers on my XJ?

Please double check this, but i think you COULD use them but the inside diameter of the spacer (where the bumpstop goes through) is bigger on a ZJ vs the XJ. So you would get play where as the spacer should have no room to move around over the bumpstop.
Yeah thats kinda what I figured as far as the coils go, why not the spacers?
And as far as the hole for the are the bump stop goes through, would it really move? its gonna have the pressure of the spring and the weight of the Jeep on it all the time...

measure the hole and your bumpstop tube, find out how much play, as long as your coil will always contact all the way around you will be just fineOriginally Posted by Erik Hoeffner

Just to throw it out there, what is everyone's opinion on 2" shackles to go with it; the Jeep is an 90% DD anyways lately...sadly.

Well I have been doing some more reading, and it sounds like the spacers they make are pretty much universal to the TJ,XJ and ZJ. So I guess they are safe to use...
On the shackles, does it pretty much base itself around the less sag in your leafs the better the lift will turn out?

about the shackle note, yes if the rear leafs are sagged you will obviously accumulate less lift and the main leaf will sag over the other 3 leafs in the pack pretty significantly. You could try an add a leaf although MANY frown upon it. Long AALs are better then short ones (short tend to ride harsh). Im running 3" long add a leafs and have gotten no sag so far (3-4 months old) and it really strenghtened the spring pack up without riding ridiculous
Well I have some leafs I got from a guy a while back (stock) they have like 60K on them, thinking of putting those on and then the shackles...or AAL to those, but I kinda like my ride quality; nitro shocks are already pretty stiff enough, don't need more stiff, ha.
Maybe thats a lot of work, but the leafs are from an 01 too, so considering mileage and age they should be a worthy upgrade over '91 leafs just shy of 250K...
