I've heard the ZJ gas tank is a direct swap into the XJ. I've not been able to find anything about swapping a ZJ gas tank into an XJ though... The only thing I've seen is "Do a search...", but I've found nothing. The fuel pump model numbers are different which leads me to believe it's not a direct swap. Has anyone here done the swap before?

Sounds like a lot of work for just a few gallons. Not looking like a good cost/benefit ratio.

 

I think it's better and safer then carrying a 5 gallon gas can .

 

Thanks Tech. Exactly what I was looking for. Filling up every 4 days as opposed to every 3 days makes a difference. I assume they're the same, but can anyone confirm if the fuel pump harnesses are different with/without the overhead console?

 

I beleave they are the same , when looking for a fuel pump they didn't ask if you had a overhead console .

 

I like the idea. There was a guy that did the same on the stock xj tank getting the full 20 gallons. I like getting an extra 5 gallons on top of the 20. Every jy I go to here rests the weight of the vehicle on the gas tank ruining the skid and tank. I will have to look at other jy's.

 

Ask them if they punch the gas tanks to drain out the gas.
I know this one boneyard that drains the tanks.
Not sure how but always assumed they just punched a hole in it.

 

In my area, they won't take a vehicle unless there is already "a fist sized hole" in the gas tank.

 

lol, one i know used it for himself, and used to go crook about his employees "stealing" it
