The old (possibly factory?) Roof rack crossbars on my 1989 Cherokee finally snapped on the end.

anyone have a reccomended replacement that fits in the factory roof channel?

I am only aware of stock units that fit, check pick and pull or such wreckers. Keep in mind that these factory racks have a low weight rating, that basket weighs a good bit, add cargo and you easily exceed the rated load. I have a basket, but have it mounted on yakima bars that are clamped to the rain gutter (I use three bars for better load distribution)

If you find used stock bar, at least consider using three or four of them to better distribute the load of that heavy basket But best bet is to get some rain gutter mounted Yakima or Thule style bars That stock rail is simply held on by about a half dozen small nutcerts to the sheet metal roof. it is NOT a thing of strength.
