So here's the story .. This is my 5th cherokee and the heat sucked so I flushed it out real good the heater core is not blocked. New thermostat was just put in by myself and the previous owner had one of them hose taps on the line to the thermostat. I let the truck idle and get hot all my hoses are hot my temp gauge is at 210 and the heat isn't the typical jeep heat. I pulled that cap off the hose inlet and the antifreeze just sits and don't move? When you would think It would be blowin out it ... Bad water pump ? Maybe but why isn't the truck overheating ?

Bad thermostat. Usually bad water pumps make noise or leak when they go bad.

Heater core or blend door. My guess.

If you hoses are hot your core should be hot. Flushing does not do crap.

I still have nightmares about all the times I wasted flushing my jeeps coolant system.

x2 on checking the blend door. Check the actuator box under the glove box, in the middle of it there is a splined ring that the end of the blend door goes into. If this is turning when you go from cold to hot on the **** and vise versa, then the door might be broken inside the HVAC housing.

Can anyone share a link or a picture so I can see where the blend door is?

Sounds like you need to install a heater core. While you are at it check the blend door.

It will be a days job but winter is coming. No better time to do it.

Like I said I flushed to get heat. Then it would slowly lose the heat. Flush again, got heat, etc.... did this for a year to avoid installing a new core. Should have just done the core from the start. Never a problem since.
