Default XJ Front Brake upgrade

Before anyone says go search... I have.

Just want a SIMPLE answer.

To use WJ brake system on the front of my '96 XJ...... Do I have to change the steering knuckles or not?

You have to do the knuckles and all the steering all at the same time.

And you'll need new wheels because the hubs they use have a different bolt pattern.

Have you thought about getting Black Magic pads and Centric rotors? That would be much easier then getting new knuckles and all of that.

You can use the xj hubs just order a spacer from jks. you also can buy the drilled out rotors. Or build a jig to drill them out your self. That's what I'm doing.

Negative, 703's are a 4 hole design.

Get the caliper bracket studs and lug studs from the donor GC and save yourself some trouble and money.

I will have to look into those rotors and pads. And I hope to get the whole axle. The junkyard said it had a blown rear so we will see.

And my XJ is a well used 96 that I have put 160k on since getting her.

Spent 4 hours at the junk yard. Got back plates, calipers and s10 springs.... for 70 bucks. Had to pull it myself but hey cant beat that price!. Went to the parts store got new rotors, hardware and parking brake.... they didnt have the hoses had to goto another store for that and the center pin. Have to go back tomorrow for the ubolts and other misc stuff.

A simple one day adventure has now turned into a money pit and multi day with a pissed off wife....

but

Its still my Jeep and its PAID for

before and after pics to come!
