XJ death wobble
I have a 1997 jeep xj that has death wobble that normally starts at 50-60mph. It had play in the track bar so I replaced it but my death wobble has gotten worse. The only other place with play is the steering box. It has about 10 degrees of play at the Pittman arm. I do not know how much play is ok. I know there is an adjustment but I don't know if I should adjust it or if the box just needs to be replaced.

Great article here:

I recently experienced DW after driving my '89 for several thousand miles on a new lift with no previous issues. Seems that it was likely ball joints, as the driver's side had so much play that the car failed a safety inspection. DW gone after replacement of ball joints, hub assemblies and axle u-joints.

x2 for Ball Joints.
Every issue I have heard of/seen/experienced was cured by (in this order)-
1) getting the track bar and drag link to the same angle
2) replacing the bushing on the frame of the track bar (usually a high durometer polyurethane)
3) Replacing the ball joints
If you've done 1 & 2, time to move onto #3.
