X Drilled and Slotted Rotors
I have Power Stop slotted rotors on my Ram 2500 4X4 and they seem to be a good quality part. There about 7 years old and no warping, cracking or problems of any kind. Brake pads last a lot longer with these rotors compared to the stock rotors.
From my experience (with my daily driver 91 XJ) the drilled and slotted "Roto-Tech" rotors (nothing special, about $38.00 ea. at the time) and some ceramic brake pads from NAPA work awesome!!! They have been on for almost 3 years now and I have nothing but good to say about the combination. It doesn't see much off road, but I drive my XJ hard on the street and braking is solid and safe at any speed! Absolutly no brake fade ever, hot, cold, whatever, and excelant braking in deep water, and no noticeable pad or rotor wear at all.

well...
Stock brakes are designed and engineered for stock vehicles. When you add a bigger wheel/tire or more weight, you are going to decrease the effectiveness of your stock braking system... you cant get past that
if you don't ride you brakes like a 16 year old girl while your driving/wheeling... you shouldn't have a problem with a premium rotor/pad upgrade...
we could get into the material debate.. organic, semi-metallic, ceramic, carbon metallic.. yadda yadda... each has its advantages and disadvantages... i prefer semi-metallic.. they dont last as long.. but to me they have more bite.. we are talking premium pads.. not cheapos...
its all up to you and your budget really..
200 mph on slotted and cross drilled rotors is a necessity.. the cross drilling helps to vent heat built up in the rotors...
if your going to go 200mph in a Cherokee and slam on your brakes while drifting into a turn.. then i would highly suggest that upgrade..
if your going to do some daily driving and wheeling, IMO i would just buy some name brand rotors and pads.. get a lifetime warranty, then put the excess money into other upgrades...
for instance... oreilly's sells bosch rotors and wagner thermo quiet pads.. lifetime warranties.. just .02 cents
