Wiring new trailer hitch
I just purchased a used hitch off a forum member, I was wondering how to go about wiring? Can I jump off a tail light or do I need to run wires from up front?
I'm looking to order everything I need in the next week so a parts list would be great as well.
Thanks for the help guys!

You need to buy a trailer light converter. Do not go cheap on it, buy a good one. Then you wire it in to rear lights wire and then to plug.

Towready and Hopkins are decent. I use a valley 52251. Converter is built into the plug and plug just mounts on bottom of bumper. Pretty easier to wire up.

If you can solder and heat shrink the new connections if the harness is not plug and play. The other option is a push in style connection like this here http://www.mscdirect.com/product/86011988 This style will promote corrosion and will eventually stop working when this happens you would need to replace section of both you trailer harness and your jeep wiring to fix it. I had to replace wiring because of this on my old pickup about 1 foot of each wire that the harness connected to. Both the towready and Hopkins as said above are good brands.

Looks like I have a place right down the road with the Towready T-one connector.
It looks like all these lits are just the 4-pin style, does anyone make a kit where it has the larger round and 4-pin plugs. Most of the trailers I will pull have the 4 pin but it would be nice to have the other adapter there just in case.

Unless you are running a brake controller or charge wire, all you need is the 4 pin flat. Now you can buy adaptors that will go from 4 pin to 6 or 7 pin. This will make the lights work on a trailer with the round plugs. Hopkins sells the adaptors. Walmart usually has them all.
