i did. works just fine as long as you have an inline fuse and a heavy duty switch to be able to handle the power. im running a 30amp fuse and switch for the 2 lights with 12g wire. really bright an switch doesnt get hot. i havent blown a fuse yet.

why wouldn't you run a relay? they are cheap, if not free at the wreckers.
those daylighters get pretty freakin hot. lots of amps running through those little wires.
sure a 30amp fuse will blow and save a fire, as long as you carry a few extras i guess.
i've had my daylighters on all night wheelin with no worries.

I had 4 150watt DAylighters on my YJ an I wouldn't even think about running them without a relay. DO IT RIGHT OR DON'T DO IT AT ALL !

God I wish more people on this forum would realize this. Take the extra time to protect your investment instead of half-assing everything.

see i have 8 other lights running with relays since those cost a little more. i got my daylighters used from a friend for 20 bucks and didnt have much time to run the extra wires for the relay. plus this was kind of an experiment to see how well they would work without one for a long time turned on.

Honestly you guys are freaking out. If you run a properly rated switch and wire and fuse it properly there is little to no risk involved. The main thing a relay is gonna do is keep high current wires out of your cab. Either way can be done properly, but running a relay reduces the amount of points you can mess up.

@Dan91- I personally had this arguement before- my light from quadratec didn't come with relays or even state in the directions to get them, and i was mildly crucified for it. Although, it was a learn something new. I'd now rather run the relay than not, but if the lights didn't come with one, and the directions don't state it, and it came as a whole kit, you can do it. My lightbar doesn't have a relay, but in reality, i never really use it now, and they are 55 watt lights. Just don't expect anyone here to side with the lack of relays because, Jeep General rule #1: Safety First. If something is ill-advised, there is a reason for it, and people on here will not agree with it at all. Kinda like wheeling alone, it could be fine, but the one time it is not, the whole group of mudders will realize that.
Also, if there has ever been 1 jeep, which was liberally pointed out to me before, that caught fire because of the lack of relays(and probably ****ty wiring skills), the majority of people advise strongly against it.
All in All, like stated above, use relays, they are cheap, and if you sell your jeep down the road, the next guy won't freak about it.

The problem isnt that you cant use them without the relay, but the fact that most people will not run the proper switch and wire size. So if you do that you will be fine. otherwise, run a relay and be safe.
