Default will these tires fit?

hey guys, i used the search bar but it proved to be pretty useless, so i'll ask here.

i have a stock '95 XJ and it needs new tires badly. so someone gave me a set of 31" BFG all-terrains that will fit the stock aluminum rims, but will they fit under the truck without lifting it? i dont plan on wheeling much before lifting it, but will they work for now as a daily driver?

when i do lift it, im going with a 3" kit...something i can get for around $500 with new shocks and springs.

Thanks!

They should fit. As long as you only plan on driving in a straight line, you should be good to go. Don't hit any potholes either...........

No, they won't fit without trimming or a lift. Actually, they will fit but you won't be able to turn.

Yeah it can be done stock, but not without cutting your fenders. I had a buddy with a '91 XJ who ran 33x10.50's completely stock. He had to cut the fenders to the very edge of the doors and he couldn't have anybody in the backseat when going up hills lol or else it would rub... which it did all the time anyways.

For some ideas of lift/tire heights check out this thread: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f59/xj...up-thread-260/

Yea they will but as the previous poster said it will be tight. They will rub your LCAs.

Spend 300 bucks and get a rc or rustys 3 inch kit now...that way you don't demolish the tires and your fenders

Kashwak, great link! so i definitely just decided to go with a 3" kit for the 31s. BUT i just have to get a kit with new leaf springs....my stock ones are almost inverted with the truck sitting...and they have 200k miles on them.

the Rusty's lift looks pretty good, and for $600 shipped i dont think i could do much better. i mean, i am on a 19 year olds budget haha.

Here ya go, man. This is mine with the Rusty's kit and 31's. Hope that helps a little. My tires rub a little, but you have the older body style. That will make a difference.

It depends on what kind of condition ur leafs are in. Mine were in good shape and the only time I rubbed was at full lock.

Here's a pic before the lift. Stock suspension on 31" Bfg at's

probably ordering the kit tonight. going with a Rusty's 3" looks to be about $600 to my door. also might have to do track bar bushings and maybe control arms too to get rid of my deathwobble problem...though im sure alot of it has to do with the really cr@ppy tires i have on it now.

Final decision- needed to cure death wobble so I got a short arm kit. Went with a BDS 4.5" short arm and a Tcase drop. $1900 shipped now I just gotta wait for it to get here. Eventually it will get long arms and 32s or 33 mud terrains. But for now it will be the 4.5 rolling on the 31 all terrains that someone gave me.

Also working on rockers, front and rear bumper, swing out tire carrier, new floor pan, and just getting under the truck with a wire brush and a few cans of rustoleum paint. Oh, and instead of re carpeting I'm using spray on bed liner, and gonna remove the headliner.
