will 95 6cyl work in 01 8cyl?
I have 95 cherokee straight 6, have a chance to get a 01 grand cherokee that has a v8 bad engine. Is it even possible to put the 6 cyl in the 01 grand cherokee? If so how complicated?

You can put the engine wherever you want, it is just a matter of how much time and money you have to spend and fabricate things
If you want an easy swap then NO.
If you are willing to made a lot of work, including swapping transmissions, electrical harness, ecu, fabricate adapters, etc, etc, etc then it will work some day.
to me it seems that it is not practical, it will be cheaper money, time and labour wise to get an used engine for the GC that will bolt right in

YES O1 WJ's Came with 4.0L 6cyl.... But............
The problem is the computer and all the wiring, 02 Sensors, Radiator, Etc. and not sure if the trans will hookup, then you have the exhaust to worry about, and the list goes on.
Even if I had a comparable year wrecked WJ with a 4.0L in it, I am not sure I personally would go through the headaches of doing the swap. (and I am not shy about working in the garage - doing a 2x4 to 4x4 swap now)
If i was going through all those headaches I would look at a LS Motor swap or something. Don't get me wrong I love the 4.0L motors..... but might as well end up with something unique and different for all that effort.

Finally some words of wisdom and I think the mounts may be different but not sure. Andrew is right on all the other issues would be a real headache.
