Default Wifes XJ Project- Gears and lockers Mods

Searched site on this subject, know there is lots on here... Need educ on brand, splines , etc.. We were super lucky to find my wife an XJ at a good price, knew we needed mods to build it to get finished results.... $$$ We are finishing the steering and suspension mods, now need to gears and locker (rr only).
Nearing the end of our budget $$$. Running 33 inch MT Tires, Not a DD XJ. 70% trails/rocks, 30% road. Our new hm is 1/2 mile away from AZ back country wheeling trails. Not looking to build a rock crawler, but defintely want difficult rocky trails capability here in No. AZ MTNs
Since we are opening pumpkins, Planning Yukon 456 Gears to give me back some power (running M/T 33s
Truss and Gussets next on D35 rr
What inexpensive lunchbox locker do you guys suggest? Spline suggestions? Just doing the rear D35

Over the years I have used several of both those lockers. I saw no discernible differences in performance between them but I did notice all the Aussie’s I installed had more drivetrain slack. Two ohad enough slack they always made banging noises when the slack was taken up during acceleration.

I have the Powertrax quiet lunchbox locker. This is the least noticeable one I’ve ever used. Under a hundred more than the normal one and well worth the price. Very little noise.

If you are going to run locked on the rocks, the best thing to start with is a different rear axle. Use the 97 and up 8.25 XJ rear which will have a 29 spline rear axle. Then lock that. I have used Aussie lockers successfully.

I went with Revolution gears because they are always "circle K" gears; better quality. Ive heard Yukon can sometimes give circle K gears or sometimes gears from china, its a roll of the dice.
I also have a Torq locker in the front Dana 30. I like the muffled clicking noise it makes while turning, it makes peoples heads turn. I think they are the same company who makes Aussie lockers.

Sorry I didn’t notice the D35. I’d go to 8.25 also.
