Who here did the V8 Swap into an XJ?
I could only find one old thread on an XJ V8 swap, some guy named frank was mentioned but no link to the thread- and is it a build thread?
I have done a lot of welding-fabricating, and live on Da Big Island of Hawaii. I don't have much opportunity but to work with what I have on hand sometimes. Well, almost all of the time.
So the story goes like this- just got an XJ with clear papers- a big deal here. Runs. Trans Bad- AW4.
Sitting right next to this XJ of forgotton year (I am having a major brain fart on it's year as I sit typing this) is a running and driving 93 ZJ V8.
The ZJ has no papers, sitting at a farm for years. For many states, this would be the vehicle to fix- as it is totally otherwise revivable. But because of Hawaii wierd laws on vehicle paperwork- there is no cost effective way to get clear title to it and it will never be road legal. So it has to be parted out.
So I have a total donor from one jeep to the other-trans, T-case and motor, wiring etc.
I have heard that this swap has been done- trying to see if it is worth my time. Could be- vehicles like this go for good money here, as the XJ also has what looks to be a 3-4" lift on it- possibly. Could be wrong.
I did search of the forums, and can't seem to find a build thread on one or real information on it other than "it's hard man".
