Default Where should upgrades be made in steering

I have an xj with 3 inch lift and 31s, i wheel it hard and don’t hesitate to bounce it off rocks. I’d like to upgrade my steering. Is a full steering system required on 31s? Or could I get away with just a beefy tie rod? I’m also getting a front lunch box locker for the front, I don’t want to be locked on the street, and I know that puts more stress on the front end. I’ve get a LP D30, stock gearing

I’m ask on a pretty tight budget, highschool and I just got fired from one of my jobs a couple weeks ago, so that’s why I’m really leaning toward just a tie rod

V8 ZJ steering components bolt right in.. Easy and cheap upgrade especially if you're only running 31's

I would not touch the steering at 3" and small tires. Exspecialy if you have no job or money. Zj in my opion is not worth the time unless your just wanting to refresh stock steeting.

No job and no money also means youl drive it as such. If you beat the **** out of it then add no brains to the list.

V8 ZJ steering is a great upgrade, I am running 35s with no issues.

A stronger tie rod is all you would need. Many of the so called upgrades cause more problems than they cure. Besides if you wheel something hard enough you can break it no matter how much you upgrade it

I figured, I’ll get one when I get a new track bar.
Anyone made a tie rod? Tapped threads into a tube and put TREs in?

Ive still got some money, I work for my dads construction company and I’ve got money from selling a Tacoma for 10,000$ over what I bought my xj for.

I just found this Aussie locker on my local Craigslist. $180 if it fits your Jeep.

Put dads money to good use , do wj steering over the knuckle and yes build all steering and track bar links yourself.
if set up correctly itl steer andxdrive better than a bone stock xj and will be your solid foundation. If done incorectly itvwill drive and steer worse than stock

research

Wj steering has been one of my best Upgrades
