Wheels won't fit after rear disc brake swap
I just got finished putting disc brakes on my xj dana 44 everything is buttoned up but my factory six spoke steel wheels wont fit. They are hitting the caliper. I know the answer to this is to buy different wheels, but I did not read ANYTHING about this happening. Please any info would help. The disc brakes are off a 1999 ford explorer.

Ok, so let me ask you this, would an aftermarket 15inch steel d window like a Craiger fit? I am pretty confident a 16 inch wheel would fit but the price difference between 16s and 15s is enough to make me shy away from the 16s

I havent seen how to do a disc setup on a D44, so i've only seen/known of using the brake parts from the rear of a ZJ.
You might be stuck with getting 16s, im afraid.
What size tire are you running? on the bright side, i know the tires i run (235/75/15 Courser ATX) are only 10 dollars more in 245/75/16, so the price might not be that much of a difference depending on your application.

Where are you running into clearance issues exactly? It's not the wheel diameter, but the wheel offset that affects caliper clearance (IMO)
I am running 15" D-windows (Ford 8.8 now, but used to have a C8.25 with ZJ discs). I have plenty of clearance diameter wise and backspacing wise.
You could run spacers as long as your calipers are clearing the diameter, or just upgrade to aftermarket with more backspacing
Edit:
You will also need longer wheel studs, I used ZJ studs I pulled from the junkyard. And don't forget the ZJ proportioning valve, since the factory drums take more pressure to actuate you will have more brake bias in the rear unless you go with a different prop valve

I have longer studs and the prop valve out of a ZJ so I'm good there. I am hitting the very outside of the of the caliper which tells me that is in fact the backspacing and not the diameter. Thank you for that thought! I am running 30x8.5r15 swampers and aftermarket 15x8in wheels are a little wide so I think I'll get some quality spacers and call it good until I get bigger tires that require a little wider wheel.
