Disc Brake Swap-Parking Brake Issue
Did the disc brake swap on my C8.25 last fall, and have been trying to get the parking brake to work since then. I took all the parts off of a 95 GC. I am running 2004 Liberty Cables that I have cut the springs down.
The Issue I am having is getting the parking brake to engage. Two things happen.
1. I can barely get the parking brake to engage, when it does its not very strong and I have tried to adjust it but i cant go any further without the shoes rubbing too much without the lever engaged.
2. When I do get it to somewhat work, it seems to self adjust itself out of order and stops working basically.
I can't figure out how to get these parking brakes to work, any help would be great this is driving me crazy.

Not sure, I am wondering if maybe I assembled something wrong because of all the trouble. Anybody who has done this swap know how exactly they should be?

Nope the pictures wont come up. I did some searching and it looks like the passenger side star adjuster is backwords. The driver side has the star wheel towards the front, while the passenger side has the star wheel towards the back. Would that account for the parking brake not working like it has?

I keep looking but not positive. Maybe I will go to the dealership and see if they can print me up something to help me out. Other then the adjuster, anything else that could be causing this?

When I did my disc break conversion I just utilized one the the ZJ cables and one of the XJ cables, added some spacers accordingly to the even out their length, and mounted them. I had to make several adjustments to the cable tension on the mounting bracket but finally got it dialed in. Leaving my vehicle on the jack stands, I started the motor and put it in drive. I pulled my ebrake to check for effectiveness. I made more adjustments to the cable tensioner.
In regards to the star adjusters I tried to get those as close as possible before I finished the install. I guesstimated the adjustment, placed the rotor on, spun it, and manually worked the parking break. From there I made the appropriate adjustments to the star adjusters.

Do you remember how you had the star adjustors? As in the actually adjustment wheel position? I guess I will have to get it back on jack stands, take the wheels off and try to get it dialed in that way.

This is on a Dana 44 but the backing plates are the same. There's lots of pictures of them on Stu's write-up.

Yea it looks like that side is set up correctly. I will just spend time to get it up on stands and take the tires off and see what I can do with it.
