strength isn't an issue. steel bends, aluminum cracks. but either with a quality wheel should be able to handle some good abuse.

15X10 Simulock steel wheels, 3.5" BS 35-12.50's. (no pics of it flat lol)

Lotta rubbing @ 3.5 with 17x33 huh,,, yeah I just put new bumpers on mine too... maybe I am sticking with the smaller setup, I hate rubbing, my firebird does it enough for both vehicles
I love the white bumpers you have though, custom? or did you buy them and powdercoat white....
My jeep started as a classic and i almost went the white bumper route... kinda wish I had now... do you have some more pics of front and back?

285/75R16 Cooper Discoverer S/T's on 16x7 Ranger rims with 4.5" of backspacing

33x12.50R15 Super Swamper TSL Bias on 15x7 Expo rims with 4.5" of backspacing

As for the sidewall flex comment depends more on the tire than the rim IMO. Those last two pics are at 4PSI front and 6PSI rear. No were near the sidewall flex my Coopers give at 20PSI even.

Got these rims as well 16x8 4" backspacing sim'd beadlocks will have 35s on them in jan.

Nice Classic, similar to mine with those flares.... are you on 4.5 coils or a 3" coil with spacers/shackles to get that high?

I have 31 10.5 km2s and they are pretty decent. I'd go with a 16 inch rim...17s look too big IMO
