Some sort of measuring devices on your part would be handy. The bore needs to be measurs or at least the pistons to determine the size.

Take the pistons to the parts store with you.

sounds like you are doing this rebuild with no knowledge, how bout u do yourself a favor, and educate your self before you and your friend dump 1k down the drain? You have a 2000, are you replacing the head? Those heads like to crack, what origionally caused the engine to blow? If theres nothing wrong with the pistons and rings, it is a total waste of cash to replace them.

Sorry, I came across a little blunt. Example, I did a head on a 2001 wj last week, 259k on it. Damn cylinders still had hone marks!! Just saying read up on what you are doing so you dont waste cash. I wasted SOOOOOOOOOOO much money when I was a kid, messing with junk like this.

jeep has a new head, problems all bottom end. spun a bearing, so got a crank kit, two rods, and a few other odds and ends. there was no damage to anything else at all. oil pump gave out was the problem, so getting a new pump as well. no rebuild, just a crank
