What is important
1992 XJ Sport / 4wheel drive/ manual trans
Rubicon Express 3.5 kit w/ full spring packs/ Trans drop (still slight vibration)
I am an avid hunter/fisherman. I travel into the woods on rutted, sometimes muddy roads, snow and the occasional small to medium rocks. I am by no means a rock crawler type or go up in the woods just to climb things. With that in mind I would like to trust my XJ to be bullet proof for my use. I also drive it on the road quite a lot. Do any of the following need to be done or would it be overkill?
1. Heavier Duty Track bar?
2. Sway Bar Disconnects
3. Steering Box Stabilizer
4. Superior kit for my D35?
5. Locker front or rear?
6. Big tube steering linkage?

Yes..get discos
No..stabilizers do nothing
Get rid of the d35 and find an 8.25
Lockers are nice
Zj steering would prolly be just fine for what you need

In my prefered build order.
1. Steering
2. Front Locker (ratcheting if on a budget)
3. Track Bar
4. Rear axle. What size tire? Are you gearing it? Replace or build it.
5. Rear selectable Locker
Sway Bar discos, sure. If it is driven on the freeway alot.
Steering stabilizer, no. A tight steering setup will not need one.

IMO - recovery gear, tow points and body protection should all come first.
2nd would be sway bar disco, and lockers.
iv wheeled jeeps with way smaller tires than most of the pack but had a safer and more enjoyable trip because i had true 4wd because of lockers and i had safe tow points for when i did get stuck - no worries of flying body parts or straps.

I put steering ahead of a front locker cause I have seen many tie rods buckle once the front end gets locked. Especially in rutted situations where the outsides of both tires are being pushed on.

good information everyone!! I am building bumpers with tow points and will be adding rocker protection as well. Oh, and I already have an 8k winch that will go on the new bumper.
