so a guy here that's local as an 8.25 with 4.10 gears, disc brakes, and a detroit trutrac limited slip as well as the matching d30 4.10 gears. all for $300. should I just go and get that rather than buy 4.56 gears and then have to pay to have them installed?

If the 8.25 is a 29 spline you have everything needed to do your Cherokee and then you could sell your old axles or use the shafts for spares. The 4.10s should work ok, the 4.56s would probably be better, but for the cost I would go with the 300.00 deal.
