Frankz, link is the best, it lets you plug in the OD ratio where the chart above is for a 1 to 1 transmission ratio.

Simply use the pull-down menus and click on the applicable item for your rig. Click on the CALCULATE button and review the info that is available at the bottom of the page.

Use this formula!
MPH x rear gear ratio x 336 / tire height x top transmission gear = rpms at given speed

Automatic trans OD ratio is .75

5 speed OD ratio is .79

This should do it for you Mud_digger.

so a guy here that's local as an 8.25 with 4.10 gears, disc brakes, and a detroit trutrac limited slip as well as the matching d30 4.10 gears. all for $300. should I just go and get that rather than buy 4.56 gears and then have to pay to have them installed?

That sounds like a great buy, the trutrac is a torque biasing differential and doesn't use clutch discs like a limited slip differential. It uses gears to transfer I think up to 40 percent of the torque to the axle with the most traction.
If the 8.25 is a 29 spline you have everything needed to do your Cherokee and then you could sell your old axles or use the shafts for spares. The 4.10s should work ok, the 4.56s would probably be better, but for the cost I would go with the 300.00 deal.
