What to do with my steering problems?
Alright here we go...
So after doing many searches and such I cannot seem to find the answers to my problems...
I recently put on a RC Series II 3" lift and 31" BFG ATs. Still on stock alloy wheels.
I installed the lift and got an alignment. But it still seems that even after the alignments my steering is horrible...
I have about 3in of play in the steering wheel. I have to constantly tweek the steering wheel left and right just to stay in the lines down the road. The XJ seems to stray in one direction sometimes. And I have alot of clunking around that I can feel right under my seat??
I'm looking into an adjustable trac bar but I would like to know what you guys think I should fix, upgrade, or do to fix my problems. It's getting to the point where I cant stand driving it around (It's my DD too).
Thanks!

I would say relocate your track bar. Easy to do. I did a write up on here.
Also crawl under neath while someone rlse turns the steering wheel. You should see the slop if it is that much. First guess is a ball joint is bad on a TRE Anything that concerns you. Take pic and we will let you know.

Yeah, I'd guess that the shop didn't adjust castor.
At 3"s of lift it should align out fine once you replace whatever is worn out.

I'll check the steering column to gear box to see if there is any play....could be just a worn out gear box.
I have a video of my worn out gearbox here and with a little adjustment on the gearbox, it tighten up the play a fair bit.

Alright thanks guys, so I shouldn't need to look into an adjustable trac bar? I will take some pics or maybe a video of it turning underneath

First you must determine what's the cause of the play.
I'll start with the steering column. Go under the truck and turn the shaft connecting the steering wheel and the steering gearbox.
If there is no play, you should not adjust the adjustment screw.
