Default Transmission options?

So I have a 87 with the Peugeot transmission and I'm having some issues with it. Is it even worth fixing it? Or should I just go with another transmission? I want an ax15 but I can't find any where I live. I'm open to either auto or stick so please any suggests would be greatly appreciated

I would ditch it. You live in Bakersfield? Shouldn't have that have that hard of time finding an ax15. Just keep looking on craigslist.

do the first nsg swap, that would be cool.

or, just do an ax15 swap. from what i hear it's basically bolt in. i'm sure you could find a write up somewhere. putting an AW4 is also possible, but it would be very complicated. the Peugeot is a piece of junk, i'd ditch it as soon as i got the chance if I had one. go to car-part.com to find a better tranny. ax15s should be fairly cheap and easy to find.

Do the ax15. I did. Its bolt in if you already have the peugot. And it even uses the same clutch.

The AX is a 5 speed. I'm neck deep in the BA to AX swap myself. If you have questions or need info, let me know.

The easiest swap will be the AX. And if your having trouble with the cost of an AX, a trans that didnt already come in a Cherokee isn't gonna appeal to you.

the nsg 370 is a 6 speed. i wanted to swap one of those one, but they're pricy and there's some wiring trickery to do. the CPS mounting location is in a different place, and you'd need a custom cross member and probably a different length driveshaft.

i bet your could do the whole ax15 swap for less than $500. nsg370 i estimated would be more like $2000 (and you know how much an estimate for a project is worth - nothing).
