So. I did the nearly impossible task of blowing up a baby 4.0L. I'm still not entirely sure how, but it started knocking real bad. Then banging. Then it wouldn't go over 3k rpm and well now it smokes just from being started.

Long story short I believe it's recoverable if I bore it out. Anyone know of good companies that do jobs like that ?

 

Most any automotive machine shop will do it

Have you pulled the head or oil pan?

Cylinder wall could be toast.

 

No I haven't yet done anything. I also need to find a reliable one in New Jersey
