Welding up thw rear end
K so I'm wantin to take out my trac loc limited slip and was going to weld up the factory stuff and re- install it. My question is what needs to be welded. Have never done it nor have I ever seen pics which would be a great help. Hoping to do this this weekend

Make sure it's clean, use a good nickle rod, and weld the spiders to spiders and spiders to carrier. I put tin foil in my spiders to keep splatter out of the splines.

It's not a good idea. My brother in-law did it on his XJ and ended up breaking his spider gears. It was hid DD and drove it 3-4 days a week on the street/freeways not only that but he went threw his new tires in No time flat! Even if my jeep was a trailer rig i would Never weld it. I would do it right the first time to prevent future problems.

weld it right, and the spider gears should be the only thing that wont break.

Have you ever driven something on the street with a spool? Annoying, very bad road manners, and tears through tires like no other. But a reliable locker!

i would just grab an open carrier and a cheap lunchbox locker. cheaper in the end, cause it won't burn through tires and don't have to worry about the welds breaking.
x2 on street manners, but if you want the same effect as a welded diff, get a mini spool. they're usually around a hundred bux, and easy to remove if you don't like it.
