Cool story. This isn't fab, and this is a common thing since those bolts break often.

Is there an aftermarket part to replace the bracket that's broken?

Exactly how hard is it to use an average web forum? I swear, this place could be a case study.

Use the rear sway bar mounts to make bar pin eliminators and weld those on

Thnx for the suggestion, I'll have a better idea of what exactly is going on when I back to the XJ. A friend was giving me a hand taking off the old shocks while i was at work and told me " ummmm you have a shock welded to the body of your jeep " I had never heard of doing this, seems ridiculous I can't even fathom that being an option lol

I'm sure this will turn into a grind and fab something job from what it sounds like, I still can't believe it's common practice

Ok, enough bashing. Now, your best bet is first grind off the weld job. Secondly, in the XJ Writeups there's a broken shock mod/fix write up with pics. This is a fairly easy job for beginners. Good luck.

The previous owner of mine did the same stupid *** ****. For both of em. So what i did was grind off all the welds, then drilled out the stock shock mounting holes, cut through the floor and dropped in these. Theyre Rough Country Bpe's.

This is a good guide on basically what i did. You dont need to cut through the floor as you can shimmy your hand and a wrench in there to get a nut on the bolt. But cutting the floor is easier. Gives you more room to work with.

Also, not sure why people are suck dicks on here? He asked a simple question. Just help him out or ignore the thread, instead of jumping down his throat about it.

Has it ever dawned on you that, just perhaps, there are people on this planet who have NOT used any sort of forum before this one? How would it be "average" then???? to me making/maintaining web sites, reading/typing in HTML, etc are simple mindless things. Can you do either of those? should i bash you in front of people simply because you cant? grow up dude.
