lol, wow that is not good. lucky its the pinion seal though cause as N20 said, thats about it. just about everything else is going to require a torch

FWIW this is how I do mine up. I know the welds do not look the prettiest but it was done with a stick welder and its hard to get all the slag out to show the welds.

I'm a cheap ***, I ran a welded front with a posi-lok forever until I got sick of breaking the locking collars. Finally upgraded to a Spartan to save $20 over an Aussie. LOL

That's how I do mine, with nickle rods. I've seen the other kind break and then it isn't locked anymore. This won't break and if it does it's still locked. It really doesn't add any more weight. Other way has stress on those small welds this way spreads it out over the whole carrier.

besides, if a chunk does break you also take the risk of destroying the ring and pinion if that chunk of broken weld/spider gear gets caught up.
