Hey all,
I just finished with a 1.5" OME lift on my 2000 Cherokee.
I went with the heavy duty kit just because I have a really heavy sound system going into the trunk.
It is not going to be removable, and it is ALOT of weight.
I figure around 200lbs or so always in there.

So my question is, should I add on something like a 1"-2" shackle to compensate for the extra weight?
I would hate to see my leafs start to sag or my shocks go out on me so soon.

any input would be greatly appreciated

Thats like thinking pushing and praying is the same as pulling and praying.....
Your adding 200 lbs of weight to the back end at all times.
Your leafs and shocks WILL go out a lot sooner than if you had none of that weight in the back.
The ONLY thing those shackles will do is make you look more level.

added weight = lower back end // shackles = raised backend // weight + shackle = (maybe) somewhat level truck

Edit: took out the majority of the OP quote

So this is a good idea? obviously they are going out alot faster haha but I guess by compensate, I meant level out.

So would this be a safe way?
Or should I go with airbags on top of the leafs?

2 18" Mmats Juggernauts
which required 14 cubic sqft of enclosure area, and numerous heavy batterys

So its going to be majority of my trunk gone

i would ventrue to guess you are probably going to be over 200lbs... just a guess. I have 2 12's in a 5.0 cu. ft. box, and the box itself probably weighs 75 lbs without the speakers.

I mean if done right it's not going to be unsafe my any means. I'd say go for it. You get pick a set of lowering brackets at autozone for like 35 Buck..flip em over and use them to lift er Hahah

hahaa idk about that with flipping some brackets,
but yea I just dont understand how the airbags distribute the weight better.

I mean they basiclly sit on top the leafs right?
So it would be the same amount of stress on the leafs no matter what I do

if youre seriously only going to be doing 200 lbs back there youll be fine as is with the OME HD springs. A lot of guys on here run around with a lot more than 200 lbs without trouble. Ive got a 70+ lb spare, another 50-75lbs of tools, 25 lb air compressor, 40lb bin of fluids, bags, wire, etc at all times, and for trail runs add a big cooler full of ice and drinks/food, high lift jack, 25+lbs of recovery gear, etc. youre looking at 300-400 lbs of trunk weight, not to mention the extra weight of armor, lift, people...

There's a reason you (probably) just paid close to a grand for your lift: it's friggin awesome... OME is an ARB company and it seems with these guys, you get what you pay for! So idk about worrying about adding shackles yet. See how she sits in a month or two. Also, as previously mentioned, shackles will pretty much just push the leafs away from vehicle and aren't exactly fixing the situation... That said, I've got the 2" BB from fat bobs garage (.com) which consists of spacers Nd shackles, so I'm in no way knocking shackles!
