I am going to tell them to save all the parts for me when they do the change over. If they don't drop any of the small parts, or it is broken I'll get rid of it. I'll post what is up with it. If broken it will go into scrap metal pile at work. Thanks for all the input.

I'm in the same boat, still trying to get the damn C-clip out to no avail. I'm convinced my problems are due to ME not having everything just right when I installed it (had to really force the pinion shaft in). Frankz, opinion on where to get new spacers at a good price?

29 spline 8.25" open carrier? LSD carrier?
When my c-clip got stuck I tried damn near every trick posted on the web. What finally did it was sitting down and at the end of the axle and slamming the shaft back and forth by hand till the clip finally dropped out. A pain in the butt that was easily corrected by deburring the c-clip before re-installing it. Knock down the edges with a file or grinder and check for any interference when inserting the clip through the slot.

well thats messed up. I would certainly be pissed if I bought it cuz they said its a limited slip and its not.

i had one in my jeep...the only problem i had was that it sheared the end off of my axle shaft because i didnt upgrade....but other than that...no problems...im gonna agree with everyone else and say it was installer error

Meaning it doesn't jerk around, clunk and ratchet like a traditional locker. They are saying is as quiet and smooth as a limited slip... not that it is a limited slip.

If it comes out in one piece with a broken paddle. I still have no use for it. I am not putting it back in. That was the point in buying the Auburn. I do not have any vehicles with an 8 1/4, other than my Jeep. My brothers Grand has a Dana. I am not buying repair parts to sell it.
I read the discription on Summit cuz that was the first hit on the search and the description is a lil confusing there. Their site does say its an open diff.
They combine the smooth operation of a limited-slip differential with the traction performance of a locking differential.
It's not confusing if you know what a locker is. A locker and a limited slip cannot be the same thing, closest is the ected and that's not a locker it's more a clamper, doesnt truly LOCK the diff. If you read it, it says it "combines the smooth operation of a limited slip", it does that, it is smooth just like a limited slip.
