The washer fluid has to come through the firewall in order to get to the rear wipers so there must be a leak. I've never had a problem but see if you can find anything under the dash on the passenger side. Sorry if I'm not helping. Haha.

I don't no if I can have a leak tho i use the rear wiper squirter all the time and never had a leak so I'm wondering if it was because I was on a 90 degree incline or so long that it could have got in

I hate mystery leaks. After it rains, my glove box fills up with water. So I sealed every seam in the glove box with silicone. Still fills with water. Tried watching it when the rain starts. I get bored and go inside. Glove box fills with water. BUT, not every time. I find out it's full when I go around a corner and it comes pouring out onto the floor. Hopefully your XJ isn't posessed like mine!

Had you been spraying the windshield a lot just prior to stopping? were you facing uphill? I wonder if you have a windshield leak somewhere.

Its possible that when you sprayed the windshield that day, or maybe previous days that it ran down into the wiper cowl vent area, and then leaked into the glovebox when on an incline?

probably a firewall leak, related to a full washer bottle and you being stuck on a steep hill. This is in a 98 XJ (from your screenname)?...washer bottle would be in the drivers side fender. Were you parked pointing up, possibly the drivers side higher than pass. side? I bet fluid drained out of the bottle, along the fender and firewall seam, then in thru the heater box/HVAC area. My 99 leaked there, I smeared about a 1/2 tube RTV around the foam gasket where the AC lines go thru the firewall.

Another option is the rear washer line could be leaking. The rear washer line comes from the same bottle up front, then passes thru the firewall and along the interior (under the door jambs), I believe passenger side on my 99, but it was drivers side on other years.

you sure it's a washer fluid leak and not a clogged ac drain tube?
