How big of tires can I put on my XJ with a 3" lift without issues or cutting fenders ?

^Not true!

I'm running 32" with 4.5" lift (5.5" front and 6.25" rear before settling)....and tires are rubbing my front bumper caps at full lock.

i have a true settled 3.5" lift, with 31x10.50 MTZ's mounted on stock eccos, had to throw a washer behind the steering stops to stop rubbing on the JKS lower arms, 2 washers would have been better, had to install 2 hockey pucks per side to prevent the tire from eating up the wheel well. at full stuff fully aired up, i still push my factory 01 fender flares up about a 1/2" per side if the wheel is turned just right. otherwise i get slight rub at full stuff while going straight.while aired down all sorts of things happen depending on what im driving over.my tire also JUST grabs the lower inner corner of the front bumper caps from time to time.

as is, there aint no way im able to run anything larger than what i have without having to cut my fenders.

In the rear i use factory bumps with JKS bump stop plates with no bump stop extensions, stuffs great, no rub, but no room for more.

i can fit 31s without rubbing in my 3" RC lift. I'd get the coil spacers and shackle relocation bracket for a good extra inch without breaking the budget or requiring too much more modification. you'll want to fit 33s in there within 6 months of having your 31s.

I put 31s on my 3in RC lift. It was the biggest I could go.

My 1.5" lift fits 31's. I rub a little at full compression when articulating.

Really? That should be plenty for 32's! Have you tried trimming the fenders?
