i need the straps because the front tires get stuck when flexed
i want to use the stock axle sway bar mounts for the axle connections
i measured and the frame above this area is very different its over a inch higher in the driver side to the frame
was going to welds a strips of steel in front of the front coils on both sides then weld a bolt to it to attach
on the driverside it will stick down because of the different measurement
then i seen a comment about frame plating and how it will crack or cause problems with the unibody
how thin is the metal i want to weld here? and will it work?
i only have a flux wire welder 110ac

 

 

I believe it would be more practical (and much easier) to use bumpstops. It looks like your rig does not have any.

OP, do you mean to say that when your rig gets flexed out a tire comes up and gets stuck against the body?

The solution would be proper bumpstopping.

Limit straps are used to control down-travel. Usually to prevent a coil from popping out, or when your shocks are the most limiting factor of your suspension and you don't want to over extend them.

 

OP don't know what you got going on or what exactly you're trying to do

but you want to use 10ga for frame plates, 3/16 if you're an overkill kinda guy (on the front rails at least)

and this is where you're gonna want to put limit strap mounts. if that is indeed what you are referring to

 

He just simply needs to bumpstop it and it should be fine and not bind up like it is.

 

Sounds like to me the op is running short arms and they are extending too far down.

They will stick if they go to far.

is that a yota axle on a jeep?
i had jks sway bar mounts and liked the sway bar but it soon bent the axle mounts downward
was worse on the passenger side and it contacts the steering
and the sway bar link popped off while wheeling
im hopeing the straps will act like the sway bar but with more flex
went ahead and welded and bolted the straps on will post a photo later and see if it works
bumpstops would be complicated and spendy and would have to take the springs off and on a few times to get it right
it does hit the inner fender and you cant turn! if your turned when it happens it tears the tire up

 

i dont know what lift it has
has terra flex short arms with new lower bushings they were very bad
cant find the uppers yet or have the know how.
the rear tires were getting cut also i added bumpstop plates and trimmed to where theres a 3/8 gap
jeep came with 33's but were bald
the front springs measure 15-1/4 with a 1-3/4 inch spacer

Running a front swaybar offroad and hitting substantial obstacles will bend the axle mounts and/or crack the frame-rails.

The straps will act nothing like a swaybar.
Limiting droop on one side will not limit up-travel on the other enough to fix the issue.

Coil springs come out without much trouble.
Bumpstops are super simple and dirt cheap! Don't even have to remove the coils if you really don't want to. Start with 3 hockey pucks for each side. Droop the suspension, slide pucks in between coil winding, one at a time and RTV them to the coil bucket and each other. Done

If you wish to fix the sway mounts, cut them off and weld on ones that are 2" taller, from JKS manufacturing. See picture for reference.

 

hey steve thanks for the post , i had thought somethings wrong with my springs or somthing to cause the sway bar mounts to bend and i only drive real slow
the passenger side is the worst seems the spring is tired on that side
I will figure out bumpstops in the future my spring goes all over the place
i proubly need those inserts put in! How do they work exactly? what size? , does the upper post go inside it? does it have a stop inside it? do you adjust the upper extended stop by cutting it, i have only found 1 extended upper stop and the they dont even list the length
my shocks just bottom out as the tire gets stuck , could i add a grommet for temporary
so i have wheeled 2 short trips with the limit straps only tugged hard on them a couple times, they do work somewhat i had measured them at a inch but they held the tires off a half inch and allowed me to steer as long as the truck isnt rocking around then the tire still hits only on the passenger side now

 

Also you can see my upper track bar mount is at a angle while on flat ground, even more than it looks in the photo... should i try to straiten it out theres nothin to hold on to to tighten it
