Default viper box in 98 cherokee

My cherokee won't start and I was under the dash checking the wires when I found a black viper box model 100HF.
What would this be and would it affect my ability to start my jeep?

Thanks

Most alarm systems have fuel pump or ignition lockouts so, yes it could be the problem.

It is spliced into everything. I thought it might have been a remote start since my cherokee has no power locks or windows.

I'll get ahold of my buddy to see if he knows if that unit has a lockout or not and post up what I find out.

I was able to just disconnect the ground wire for the box and everything works now.
