Default Used Lock Right Locker?

I've got a guy trying to sell me a used Powertrax/Richmond Gear Lock Right Locker for my Chrysler 8.25 with 29 spline axles Part number #1250. Price with carrier for $175. I have a few questions:

1. This is my DD in Texas (no snow or ice driving) and I offroad a few times a month and pull trailers occasionally in my 2000 XJ with a 3" RC lift, Bushwhacker cut outs, and 32" tires. Will this locker be too much for a DD? (I'm a college kid and understand I drive a jeep, so I am not expecting a cadillac ride, and have a flowmaster, so noise shouldn't be too big of an issue either).

2. Doesn't this locker fit in the stock carrier so I don't need another carrier from him?

3. Mileage is unknown on it but he said it was used in a ranch vehicle so probably not too hard of wheeling. What would be the risk of buying this used one versus a new one?

4. Is there something wrong with it as it looks like there might be pitting in the top? (Picture 1)

5. Is it a good price?

I did not read your novel but if you can get a lockrite for a good price you can order a new spring and pin kit and a new hardened cross shaft if you're worried about it

1. it should be manageable in the snow, just be cautious with the throttle. because it will only lock with under power.

2. as long as you have the 29 spline axle, it is a direct drop in in place of you stock spider gears

3. if you're worried about the age, and use. then a new spring kit and cross pin are pretty cheap

4. i wouldnt be "too" concerned about that pitting.

5. if everything is in good working order and there is no visible damage, then yes.

X2 on this.
Long story short this locker will be fine. Just be warned that this locker ratchet's pretty loud. Heavy gear oil is recommend.

I love my locker in the snow, it can be a lot of fun I also pull trailers quite a bit in the winter and the lock-right works great!

I'd buy it in a heart beat, throw some new springs in it, and let er buck!

Check the gears and make sure they are square and not chipped or rounded and def buy new springs because they wear fast on lockrights.
