upgrading to 35X12.50s
I currently have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport with a 4.5" lift and 31's. I want to upgrade to 35X12.50s and am not sure how to make this happen. Don't know if I can "upgrade" the lift kit I already have or if I will have to get a whole new lift kit. Pretty sure I need 6.5" of lift and or cut fenders to fit the 35" tires? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Thanks,

You should be able to "upgrade" your lift depending on what your setup is right now, but i have seen people on here running 35's on 4.5 with some trimming

you could do shackles and coil spacers to get to 6.5in but you may need to do other things like extend brake lines or t-case drop if you dont all ready

I would do 6.5" coils up front (avoid spacers if possible although they will work) then do shackles out back.
Are your control arms adjustable? Trac bar? Drop pitman arm might would be needed. A tcase drop will get you by, but a SYE is much better alternative.
You could aways do bushwacker flares on the lift you have now too.

keep it at 4.5 and cut your fenders for the 35's. bump stop accordingly and you will not want to run stock gears for your dd. your milage will SUCK!!! you want at least 4.10's. i would go 4.56's. the 35's on 4.5 will look super sick. low center of gravity is better for daily driving anyways...

I went with 35-12.50-15 Pro Comp Radial Mud Terrains and Bushwacker Flat Style Fender Flares. I'll look into how to changing the gearing, thanks. I'm much more familiar with electronics/hydraulics. Engines and drivetrains aren't exactly my specialty.

i used to run 31s with stock gears (355) now i have 35s with 456 gears and i gained 6 mpg running the new gears even with larger tires.
if you dont mind cutting fenders then keep your 4.5 inch lift and put 35s under it.
heres mine with a 4.5 inch lift and 35s
