The more I think about this, the more I wonder about that design for the transmission mount. At first the design itself looked kind of interesting, despite the poor build quality.
But then it occurred to me that the OEM and Daystar mounts both spread the load out over a much bigger block of rubber or poly. This thing concentrates all that load into a much smaller rubber cylinder. I have a feeling the OEM mount was designed that large for a reason, and I'm not sure I would trust the mount in this thread to handle it. Despite all the extra steel, this mount looks like it would actually be weaker than stock in real world usage.

Lol. So here's the deal. The welds in the 1st post aren't so pretty. They were welded with a new welder that I was having a terrible time getting set right.. way too much adjustment.. Anyway these particular mounts were set aside several years ago. 7 or 8 I think. . He needed mounts and these were the only set I had built. . Gave them to him really cheap. As far as copying iron man. I had never even heard of them until about a year ago.. My thoughts were that they copied mine.. lol.. And for the integrity of the Trans mount not being as strong as stock since stock is a bigger piece of rubber. . Hmm. These bushings are replacements for an older 3/4 ton Chevy rear spring. . So if they can handle a loaded 3/4 ton truck without problems. They'll have no trouble handling the small amount of flex these light weight trans create.. So here's a couple pics of a set that shipped out today.
These same mounts have been in my XJ for several thousand very rough miles and are still like new.

As far as the rest of it, I feel like that's BS as well. But I don't really care to get into that.

Dave did hook me up tremendously, i wanted too repay the favor , im not at all worried about welds, i have been beating on these for several weekends in a row now they are fricken awsome, im so glad, to show off the mounts dave made, because he makes awsome stuff, by a wheeler for a wheeler, ide much rather spend money with dave any day, rather than deal with brown dog, or crapstar, any day! And if they ever break he will replace them.

My neighbors and reputable company that pioneered engine mounts and brackets that could stand all sorts of abuse......Sheesh.

engine mounts look like the ones i made at home. I don't care how pretty stuff is as long as it will last. trans mount is a interesting design im not sure about it but would have to see if it would hold up to what I put my jeep through. op you did the right thing by trying to return the favor and it does bring ideas about option away from the cookie cutter norm. but the other dealers also make a really good product and unless you have a real issue with them take the high road dont bad mouth .

Oh look. Here's a trans mount in my 1965 wagoneer with th400 and Dana 20. Built this set up 20 years ago. Still looks like it did the day it was installed. Except for all the oil lol.. Even after blowing 2 transfer cases in half. First one blew from hitting a big washout while prerunning. Pushed the axle back and compressed the drive shaft resulting in the t case exploding. As well as the right front wheel being ripped off.. The other time was running knee deep whoops on the beach in Mexico at 80 in low range. Yes 80. It has a small block Chevy from my old stock car. I've been building mounts like this a long time.. And as far as copying iron man goes.. If I were copying them I would use my press brake and duplicate them.. lol

I've never heard a good welder/ fabricator say that lol. ..!.. ..!..
Granted, that is the theme of building things at work. Everyone who says that just gives me job security. If you can make it last, you can make it pretty.
No one should think you're copying Andy's work, it's not close, IMO. He is building links for U4 cars and Fab Four show rigs...
Do they work? Sure.
Is it the improper bushing for an improper load rating? Absolutely.
"Deal with Brown Dog" Yes, dealing with the most well known and respected producer of engine mounts...
This was a good attempt and a failed execution of a friendly promotion.
