Ubolts keep stripping FU@$
So i put on my lift last week and as I was tightening the ubolts a nut just stripped right out and twore all the threads up and shot up....
I put on another set and torqued them to 55-65 ftlbs somewhere in there and after 50 miles i went to retorque them and one of the bolts is stripped again! I ****ing hate these things, they are meant to hold your axle to your vehicle and they cant even handle 65 ftlbs?

go to a spring shop and get a set bent up for you. they are fine thread made from black tool steel. so i think they are actually grade 12 steel with 1/2 inch thread.

sounds like you have a bigger issue.
have you checked that everything is sitting correctly and your mounts on the axle are fine? lift blocks?

These are Grade 8 bolts from a machine shop.
I'm running more leafs then most people lol Even with 9 leafs and flexing completely these are great u-bolts not a single prob.

How are you two even torqueing those u-bolts without cutting them? Could that be my problem? I cut them and then torque them down.

I just replaced my bottom 2 leaves with s10 main and second leaves as a bastard pack, 4 leaves total and now that i think of it, the nut/bolt that strips is the passenger side, say you are looking at the wheel well, these are the nuts : . Its where the missing dot is. That always strips dunno why!
