Default Turbo charged 4.0L

I came across a turbo for the straight 6 jeep motor. Is it worth the money to put one on?

they cant actualy be that similar in price???? please show me a small block and a turbo that are comparable... some ppl easyly dnt have engine swap skills and a turbo might be that way to easyer power...

it dosnt realy need to be a specifice turbo you can pull something off a junk yard project or a turbo diesel truck (there will be enough tuning and adapting to do it though) probably for less..... for me the stock engine is plenty of power for most applications and dosnt need that much added to it, is this a trail purpose rig or a weekend warrior?

there is also a stroker kit for our engines, itl cost alot to and there will be some fiddling......how much is this turbo for you and wut all does it come with?

I found just a turbo that I can get here for aroun 190, and a kit that comes with everyhin ou need, all new exhaust pipe ect. For like 750 before shipping, I'd prolly just get the turbo and bend the pipe myself

you can not just put on a turbo and call it a day, what about tuning it?, what about turbo manifold or at the least an adapter

So let's look at a really price list, something that might work

used Holset 35 $50-$250, or cheap ebay turbo, $150-300

manifold $800 http://www.boostwerks.com/collection...turbo-manifold

or a build your own manifold, $100-250 (depends on materials)

have an adapter made, $200-$350

new full exhaust, $300-450

misc - $500+

piping - $150 ebay

intercooler - $100 ebay

blow off valve, cheapo from ebay, $45

waste gate internal? external?

tuning and dyno time?

new engine because you don;t have a clue what you are doing?

what is your plan here kid, you can't just slap on a turbo, not that simple... what are you doing about oil for the turbo?

Short answer:
No.

If you can't break absolutely everything in the drivetrain with the stock 190 hp, you're doing it wrong.

Im all for more power...but my 4.0 (along with all the other h.o.) came with 190hp stock..4h or 4l I can get my 33s to throw 30ft rooster tails or climb anything I can get traction on... so i see no point in power upgrades unless you break something then its always better to upgrade .... like said before plan on gettin a new motor when you blow that one up

please make sure to document your turbo install, the rule with turbos for people that don't know enough is figure out what you think it will cost then multiply that number by 5, if you plan to do the tuning yourself but have never done it multiply that number yet again to account for the damage you will cause to your engine

my buddy had a 91 MR2 turbo, it was turbo from the factory and he started messing with it back in high school and burned a hole in the piston...

later he got another and built that, bigger turbo, literally over 20k in addons, he had nothing but trouble and finally had to get the fully aftermarket ECU tuned by a pro on the dyno...

but hey I am sure you know more than him, and more than me. I have built several engines and a few of the have been turbo builds, but I will be honest I have never built a Jeep, but an internal combustion engine is an internal combustion engine is an internal combustion engine is a internal combustion engine is a..........................................

Dont listen to this guy. Sounds like a dream killer to me. I'd do it, and if you're up to the challenge I say give it a shot.

lol, an ebay turbo kit, no tuning, no injectors, undersized turbo

but hey, getting the turbo mounted up and some exhaust ran is less than half of the battle

in agreement it is still an expensive option, you say uv done a few, i hvnt and my quesstion is would it be all the same to just put it on the end of the stock manifold between the exhaust pipe and use some kind of pvc (mabey something similar more heat resistant) to plumb the air down there? and dont blowoffs usualy come with a good kit (typing hvnt looked at the links yet didnt check)
