I have seen some people do it (online), on Naxja there was a guy selling them a while back... Ive seen a few on wranglers but have never seen anyone do it on a XJ in person. I know there are few superchargers out there for the XJ (require removing AC).

So yes it is possible

Its been done. and is very doable. You wouldnt be able to boost much unless you built up the internals and then once you got that power there is the next weakest link. transmission, ujoints, differentials...
IF your looking to boost it, just to boost it. Then you probably wouldnt be able to boost over 5-7psi without major mods.
You'd need bigger injectors adjustable fuel pres regulator, maybe even high flow fuel pump. boost controller, retune of ecu.
Money and time any mod is possible

haha they both are but if you can do it to a 4.0 wrangler, you can do it to an XJ (engine wise) only a few differences

Except for the space under the hood and routing of the exhaust (depending on Wrangler year).

meh they sell cowl hoods and sawsalls... I have seen quite a few xjs with things sticking out of the hood all I am saying is that the two engines are very close.. if you want a turbo, you can fit it in there somewhere

True, anything can be done.

However, having the exhaust plumbed to the opposite side or their engine bay makes things much simpler.

heres an I6 out of a 04 wrangler that they did a little work to http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticl...t_2/index.html
a full 693hp of work, but that involes about 30lbs of boost

After that sweet *** air-to-water cooler, he puts a dinky *** knock off HKS SSQV blow off valve; with the fo-carbon fiber too. Gross.

The biggest thing is monitoring and tuning. Any jackass can try to throw a turbo on something but tuning and monitoring is always left out for some reason, as if installing a turbo was like doing an intake. I've got a single turbo 500hp 4cyl, and spend loads of time data logging runs, doing dyno sessions, and adding monitoring devices. The XJ would be no different. So to that I say, no thanks. One boosted car is enough headache.
