UPDATE: Trying to run down a problem after my 3" lift.
UPDATE: Bought a new transfer case for $599 w/1yr warranty. Had it installed and very little improvement in the vibration. Still has an acceleration vibe going. I can at least take it on the highway now.
Still may need a SYE?
Also got my adjustable trackbar installed and the front axle is perfect.
The rear leaf springs are starting to settle now and the Jeep looks better in the rear.
Specs: Stock 2001 Cherokee 4x4 (smooth riding, no vibrations at stock height)
235/75/15 Duratracs
Just added:
3" Zone spring lift
Upgraded Nitro shocks.
1" Tcase drop
I did not do the lift. A shop close by did it for me. I am not able to DIY.
First thing I and a friend noticed was my driver front tire was sticking out about 1.5" more than the pass side. (was told I didn't need a adj. track bar, but it seems I do now?).
second thing is the rear of the Jeep is higher in the rear (rear 22.5" from center of hub to bottom of fender) (front is 21.5" from center of the hub to the bottom of fender)
third thing is I got the Jeep up to 35mph and I get a not so good loud vibration when accelerating only. 35 and under not at all.
I took it back to the shop today and had them look it over while I was at work.
They checked for bad U-joints and the such (everything looks good). They think it's coming from the Tcase. Said they lifted it off the ground and ran it in 2wd and 4wd and still had the vibrations. Said it seemed to go between the Tcase and towards the middle of the drive shaft and back. I asked if they checked the pinion angle and the shop does not have a Pinion angle gauge.
They want me to go to a local transmission shop and have them see what they think.
I keep looking around the net and no one says a SYE is needed in my case (3" lift). I don't know for sure now. Since the rear of the Jeep sits 1" higher, would it need the SYE?
I hate to spend $200+ on a SYE and have it installed and it not have been the problem.
Help.......

Yes, and now the steering wheel is cocked to the left some also. Uggh...
I know the track bar will fix the issue with the axle and steering wheel. I told them just leave the wheel alone and I will order a track bar on Monday.

Tight joint maybe? Went past it's usual range of motion?
Was the track bar hole moved with the new lift? If not, that's why the diff is moved over. You usually go 3/4" from the existing hole to the drivers side.
And get it aligned if you haven't already.

I haven't a clue. I will check on the new hole tomorrow. I didn't over see them working on the Jeep. Thanks for the info of the relocated hole.

Do this first its really needed with any lift if done properly. That is what centers the front differential for you.
You should have went to someone who had done lifts (correctly) before yours and they would have advised to get a new track bar. The same for the alignment they should have centered your wheel.
But first get an adj. track bar before you have another alignment done.

Thanks for the helping information guys.
I tried to find someone in my area that did lifts but found zero shops.
I am about 1.5hrs from Louisville.
I will get a trackbar on order tomorrow.

Just got back from the transmission shop. In about 2 min on the rack running it.
Transfer case is bad. Either a bad bearing or thrown a snap ring he said.
Price is 1K to 1,200 and 2 to 3 days.
I think I will look around to see if I can just buy another Tcase in the area and just put that in.
It's just weird that this happens right after the lift was done. Maybe it was bad all along and I just never heard/or felt it.
It was a smooth as silk driver before the lift.

Or worse case buy a used one and drop it off and have them rebuild it maybe throw in a sye if budget allows. As far as having it installed any good mechanic should be able to swap out t cases as long as you get the right one.
