do yours have full time option or none?

A 231 just have 4 modes. 2h, 4h, n, and 4l

A 242 have 5 modes, with a 4 full time option

When I select 4wd Hi or Lo it says part time on the dash light.

Here is a snap shot of a web page on my cases.

Then you probably needed to rebuild your DS.

You realize the Wrangler TC is clocked 1" the opposite direction? I'm running Wrangler trans and reclocked the TC just so that it would not hit the floor pan. Others do not reclock and do fine with a 3" lift.

Yes it's a 231J but there are 2 types of cases listed and the price is about $100+ difference

Side note, when doing a SYE will I have to do a new driveshaft or can I use mine? Sorry for being a total newb on this subject. LOL

I don't have a wrangler. And it's a fact that it's a hit or miss on 97+ jeeps

talked to Eric at Rockridge and got the Tracbar on order. He said I really don't need a SYE unless I go bigger on a lift.

Eric said he just got done doing the exact same lift on his Cherokee and had a very very small vibration that only he can feel. Wish I had that problem. LOL

He too thinks the Tcase is bad from what I told him.

I called AutoZone and they want $650ish for a Tcase (showing 2 types of 231's a 21 spline and a 23 spline) I am not sure which I have.

Called the local Jeep dealer here and they have no way of knowing which case I would need unless they take it out.

Called Advance Auto they only show 1 case a 27 spline (only) for my Jeep for $800ish.

I am still lost on which unit to order.

Hey Ky guys, what is the phone number of the Louisville shop? I may give them a call to see what they say.

Look at the JY's for a used one an NP-231 should cost about $200 there and most will will warranty them to be good or replace it. Most of the time a 3" lift does require a drop kit or SYE (always a good idea) I found mine on special a RR model for $99 and a 4wd shop charged me $150 to install it and replace the chain also. As for a driveshaft you can use another one from the front of an XJ will fit or a custom made it you want mine was $199.

Looks like I may be going the Auto Zone route. I called back and they can order a 23 spline for $599 + $250 core.

I can return it if it is not the exact unit. Everything points to it being a 23.

I talked to Drivetrain.com and they are $1,012 + $350 core and $161 shipping both ways (core return)

Nor do I.

But my MJ has parts from a TJ to WJ to KJ to XJ.

Guess don't swap parts much?

About a 3.5hr drive. There is nothing locally. Plus I don't want to buy used and not have any type of warranty period.
