I know I know...Bump stops. Before anybody jumps down my throat yes I know I need bump stops and it could theoretically solve my problem. But here we go... I only have 3" of lift with fenders trimmed way out to fit up to 35's and I'm almost ready for new rubber. I took her out of the trail and the inner most body pinch weld scored and almost shredded almost my tires all the way around. I tried putting door edge guard molding on the seam as just a temporary solution. Needless to say they didn't work all too great. Before I measure for bump stops that I know I need I want to find a more permanent solution for these jagged metal edges that will ruin a new set of rubber. What all have you guys done to combat this issue? Grind down and re weld? Kind nervous to do that because of thin unibody metal. Just hammer them over flat? My concern with this would be warping the surrounding metal or destroying the integrity of the welds. I know with these things taken care of I won't need to bump stop as aggressively. Even if its not perfect I know it can certainly be better. Thanks in advance for the posts (assuming a get any).

Sounds like its time to break out the body modification sledge. Glad to know I'm not the only with a similar problem. I feel like these days a LCOG set up like mine is harder and harder to come by. Seems like no one takes a Cherokee "seriously" unless your 4.5" of lift or greater. My theory is there is nothing wrong with a well build XJ with 35's and 3" lift. Just can't be afraid of an angle grinder or massive amounts of flare removal. Once I fold over the excess in the wheel well maybe when I do my semi mini boat sides I'll tie in a plate to that connects the rockers, forward sub frame section, and wheel well all to one assembly. If your gonna run at 3" lift and rock crawl then certainly expect damage and hard hits...its all about armor and protection that low.
