Transfer Case Swap
I am planning on going to the Pull n Pay to find a NP242 transfer case to get the full time option. What all do I need to change out my NP231?
Parts I know:
The transfer case itself
Shift level
Display on the lower console
Parts I don't know?
The transfer case skid
The instrument cluster lights (Is it worth making the "Full time" light work?
Driveshafts? Do the slip yolks match?
As well, any links that might explain if this is harder than just a bolt in upgrade?
Thanks!!!

Skid is different. Get the lever, especially the "gate" part for the positions.

I just went from a 242 to a 231 in mine this weekend. You will need the shift gate and console piece for sure. If you have factory crossmember it will work. It depends on skid plate if you have a aftermarket one.

I drive in a lot of places with snow patches. Pave -> Snow -> Pave -> Snow. I shouldn't really leave it in part-time and life can get exciting if I leave it in 2wd. I basically end up imitating a pole dancer on my t-case lever.

I wish I had full time 4wd..
as the op said, driving on certain roads in the winter is risky if you're in 2wd. they can be plowed and just fine and you're doing 55 and then all of a sudden BAM SNOWDRIFT and you're screwed
